Image
Dushyant  Chautala, popularly known as ‘ peoples Deputy CM’, emerged tall after astonishing debut of his political party in 2019, securing 18% vote bank with ten legislators and consequently a king maker of forming Govt in Haryana. Many thought that he achieved his goal but for Dushyant it was a beginning. The political journey of the youth icon turned-politician has indeed been meteoric. In 2014, parliament of India witnessed arrival of youngest ever member who defeated heavy weight Kuldeep Bishnoi (several term MP & son of former CM of Haryana, Bhajan Lal) on Hisar Lok Sabha constituency. At 25, he became youngest member of Parliament not only in India but in whole of Asia. While Dushyant was learning dynamics of national politics in parliament, he was strengthening student wing of his party, INSO(Indian National Student organization) too . It was his initiative that in those times largest blood donation & tree plantation drives were conducted by youth of Haryana. While his f

Dushyant Chautala Rose to Farmer’s Cause; Opposition Failed

Dushyant Chautala Rose to Farmer’s Cause;  Opposition Failed The Indian farmer constitutes 40 per cent of the country and an even higher percentage of its poor and as the available data points out, is under immense stress. The modernization of the central farm laws is nothing but an adaptation of provisions which already exist in many states, including Punjab and Haryana. How come the three acts become anti-farmer in some states and why not in many others is something the activists themselves cannot explain. Big states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan are not even a part of the farmers’ agitation and there is no protest against the central or state government in these states, despite the fact that BJP is not in power in some of these states. More importantly, some agriculturists and several economists have been campaigning for abolishing MSP   based procurement as it is unfairly tilted towards a few states like Punjab. The central government has neither

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - Social evil which must go

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)- Social evil which must go When our constitution was framed it was enshrined with rights of equality, personal liberty without any gender bias. Our fundamental rights equally protect men and women. FGM is one such practice that deprives Indian women of their basic right of personal liberty and equality. India is independent since 70 years but we are still slaves of feudal and patriarchal beliefs. A custom & a traditional practice that sanction to pierce girls’ private parts and deprive her of rightful living is nothing but a brutality. FGM is a traditional practice that involves slicing a woman’s clitoris. The underlying concept is that it cleanses the girl, making her pure prior to entering into a matrimonial alliance. Words that came to associate with the girls undergoing this cutting procedure were, “Pure”, “Marriageable”, “Honourable”, “Worthy” further to convince that this customary practice is for their own good and s

THE WOMEN FACTOR-HOW JJP’s HARI CHUNARI CHAUPAL WILL BE A GAME CHANGER

Image
THE WOMEN FACTOR-HOW JJP’s HARI CHUNARI CHAUPAL WILL BE A GAME CHANGER The most heartening sight around the Haryana before General & assembly election is large number of women participation in Hari chunari chaupal organized by Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) workers and addressed by Smt. Naina Chautala, MLA. Long queues and participation in large number signals women eagerness to participate in dethroning current political set up. Why women will decide who will rule: Current electoral statistics can surprise us all & of course pose a major reason of worry for current political set up. In 1962, the turnout of women was only 47 percent (of the total female electorate), yet by 2014, it had shot up to 66 percent-up by nearly 19 percentage points. On the other hand, men’s turnout grew by only 5 percent over the same period.   In 1962, women’s turnout was 15 per cent lower than men’s turnout; but by2014 women’s turnout had almost reached parity with men, short by only 1.

Why Haryana needs a leadership of  Dushyant Chautala If you visit 18 Janpath in Delhi or any region in Haryana, you’ll see posters all around with slogans “ Jaha Dushyant waha hum ”. One wonders how a young man of 30 years and a first time parliamentarian is revered by people of Haryana across all ages, caste or gender. Well, it is because of the work done by him in last 4 years in his state as well in the Centre. Dushyant joined active politics in Haryana on Jan 16, 2013 and soon became a youth icon in the state. He defeated Haryana’s strongman Kuldip Bishnoi and became the youngest ever parliamentarian in the history of Indian politics. Despite doing his schooling from Sanawar and higher education from USA, he is considered as one of the most grounded and humble politician who has raised his voice more than 600 times in parliament for farmers and deprived sections of his state. His fine political acumen and vis

Triple Talaq Bill-Bold Political Move by BJP

Bold political move of BJP-Triple Talaq bill Since second century of Islamic era Muslim women have born the brunt of autocratic personal laws. They were treated as a commodity available at a disposal of men in the name of old Muslim personal/marriage rules. It is a known fact that world over law is derived from customs and more or less law is framed over common sensical approach of law makers. Ancient Muslim rulers have always aimed at increasing population base by creating large population for enhancing the community strength. Hence  BIGAMY was allowed keeping this in mind. One of the major atrocities Indian Muslim women have faced over a long period of time are “Divorce laws”. Mere uttering of 3 words will result in ending of marital relationship with no recourse available to women or their children. If we study Muslim talaq laws we will find that the only decision maker or the Initiators for giving talaq are men. Divorce laws in muslims i.e Talaq - ul - Sunnat
