Why Haryana needs a leadership of Dushyant Chautala

If you visit 18 Janpath in Delhi or any region in Haryana, you’ll see posters all around with slogans “Jaha Dushyant waha hum”. One wonders how a young man of 30 years and a first time parliamentarian is revered by people of Haryana across all ages, caste or gender. Well, it is because of the work done by him in last 4 years in his state as well in the Centre. Dushyant joined active politics in Haryana on Jan 16, 2013 and soon became a youth icon in the state. He defeated Haryana’s strongman Kuldip Bishnoi and became the youngest ever parliamentarian in the history of Indian politics. Despite doing his schooling from Sanawar and higher education from USA, he is considered as one of the most grounded and humble politician who has raised his voice more than 600 times in parliament for farmers and deprived sections of his state.

His fine political acumen and vision made INLD strong at grassroot level. Knowing that the youth is the future of our country he worked at rejuvenating student’s wing INSO. He held youth conferences all across the state and took over the social media publicity of INLD. To exemplify a few under his leadership- INLD boast of being Guinness world record holder for most organs (eyes) donated (10, 458 eyes). He also organized events like Plantation of over 10,000 plants in Haryana on the 100th Birth Anniversary of Ch. Devilal Ji, Former Deputy Prime Minister of India and Collected over 6000 blood units through the Blood Donation Camps in Haryana. To be a top leader of a state, these may seem small initiatives, but this of course shows his sensitiveness and empathy towards the society at such a young age.

His agile and effective performance in Parliament surprises even veteran MP’s. His credentials in parliament speak about him. He is a MP with 84% attendance who was a part of 228 debates in the house. The two facts which suggests his seriousness over raising the voice of people of Haryana are - he raised more than 630 questions in the house whereas other leaders of the state could not ask even 250 questions; he alone introduced 20 private member bills whereas other MPs of the state did only 3. These figures speak a lot about his concern for the rooted issues in Haryana.

Even in state politics he left no stone unturned in exposing scams under the current government.  He brought up the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) scam where question papers were leaked for recruitment of judicial officers. He also reportedly was instrumental in exposing the thermal power plant scam, the power purchases scam, the pillar box scam and the transformer scam.  Time and again, all shoddy land deals under congress govt. were exposed by him.

Today, his wave and support is undeniable throughout Haryana. This is evident by his performance in last assembly elections when he took over the election campaign in Mahendragarh, Dabwali and Uchana. Pertinently, INLD candidates won all three constituencies.

He may be a neophyte so far as his activities into active political scene is concerned but Dushyant surely has four generations of political blood flowing in his veins. In the absence of his father and grandfather (Former CM of Haryana) he has taken charge of his party in a commendable way. When he speaks no one considers him as novice and he speaks like a veteran who knows his partymen by their names and village. This feeling of belongingness has made people of Haryana display their everlasting loyalty towards him.

Today, some odds are laid against him but this latest entrant to Haryana’s circle of political leaders, exudes confidence and seems poised to inject a breath of fresh air among gray haired politics. Hence, this allows a hope to glow a flickering flame in the debilitated rule in which Haryana has been perennially engulfed since last decade.

Clearly, he has made his mark. His wave is  vivacious, undeniable and unquenchable. Top seat in Chandigarh is where the whole of Haryana wants him to be at. Nothing less.
